For sale Gama Goat M561
Special training was required in order to operate a Gama Goat. This is a running unit with the Detroit 3-53 diesel engine which is said to be very noisy requiring PSDs (ear protection for the drivers). This is a 1971 10,000 mile unit. The brakes are in need of repair, the fluids have been changed and 2 batteries are included.

The "Gamma Goat" - earning its name from designer of the articulated joint, Roger Gamount, coupled with the excellent climbing qualities of a wild goat - entered the US Army inventory in 1969 with deliveries ending in 1973 (under the formal designation of "M561, 6x6, Tactical, 1-1/4ton Truck").

This M561 "Gama Goat" 6X6 articulated truck is one of some 15,000 built mostly during the mid-to-late 60's for use by US Forces in the Vietnam War. Though originally powered by a 2.6 liter, two-stroke Detroit Diesel three cylinder of 100 HP, this one now packs a 454 Chevy bored out to 500 cubic inches.

This meant the vehicle could go most anywhere and do most things. Although in practice, the Goat proved to be quite capable on land, but lacked a little in the water.

It still has the "Property Of" stickers on it. Truck was Rebuilt by the Army prior to being released to NASA. It has 4300 miles on it since rebuild.
